San Jacinto Unified School District, 2000-2004

During a five year period covering fiscal years 2000-2001 through 2004-2005 San Jacinto Unified School District secured over $7,000,000 in E-rate funding commitments.

SJUSD is a rural school district with approximately 8,800 students. The Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund, commonly known as "E-Rate," is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) under the direction of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and provides discounts to assist most schools and libraries in the United States to obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet access.

The district leveraged the available federal E-rate funding program to help bring Internet Access to every classroom, school libraries, computer labs and other instructional areas of the school. The funds were also used to offset existing costs of telecommunications services such as local phone service, long distance phone service and high speed T-1 lines.

By using the E-rate program, San Jacinto was able to increase Internet access to all of its students at up to a 90% discount of the actual project costs.

The following charts display the funding commitments received by San Jacinto Unified School District over the five year period.

San Jacinto Unified School District continues to partner with eDimension LLC on it's current E-rate projects. The district has applied for E-rate funding and is eagerly waiting for funding commitments for the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 school years in the amount of $1,625,000.
